Maternity Session Preparation Guide

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • I will offer simple posing suggestions so that you can feel relaxed and engaged throughout your session.

  • If you have older children with you, don’t stress about their behavior! Just focus on giving them love and having fun with them.

  • Plan on our session being 1-2 hours long.

  • Kids can stop for snacks at any point during the session.

  • Pets are welcome!

WHAT TO BRING

If applicable, bring snacks for kids. Kids are so much happier with food, so bring their favorite snacks, and maybe even a special treat!

Please bring a blanket. We may not use it, but it’s great to have one just incase it gets chilly or to have something to sit on.

WHAT TO WEAR

  • Don’t be afraid to show off your bump!

  • Everyone in similar color tones always looks great, example: jewel tones or a variety of neutrals.

  • If flowy dresses are your style, I just think they’re always so pretty in photos!

  • Consider the season! In fall and winter, warm dresses or thick sweaters that don’t require a jacket are recommended so that you don’t accidentally hide the baby bump with outerwear.

  • Fun clothing test: imagine that all of the clothing from your outfits is put on one person, does it look cohesive or are some pieces clashing? That’s a great way to determine if your outfits will go well together!

WHAT NOT TO WEAR

  • No bright neon colors.

  • No visible logos (if possible).

  • No recognizable characters (this one is mostly for kids).

  • No clashing plaids! (I think it’s a PNW thing but it can be overwhelming to the eye).

  • No matching outfits exactly. It looks way more natural if you are wearing clothes that look great together but are not identical.
